Reform Jersey continues to work with colleagues across the Government of Jersey during this public health emergency. We have been working collaboratively, in the best interests of islanders, to promote the importance of informed and timely decision making. During this critical time it is essential that the States Assembly works together, puts political differences aside, and focuses on the common goal of protecting islanders.

We are delighted that States members have voted to adopt Deputy Geoff Southern’s proposition, which commits the government to making primary healthcare, including GP visits, affordable for vulnerable patients. This is the first step on the way to delivering a primary care system which is free at the point of delivery.

Reform Jersey thanks those States Members that supported our proposition to raise the minimum wage further in 2020. We are disappointed that the States Assembly has chosen not to take positive action to meet its commitment to reduce income inequality. The decision of the majority of States Members not to support this proposition shows how out of touch they are with the harsh reality of living on a low income.
