Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some short answers to some of the questions we are frequently asked. If you want to know more then please contact us using the link at the bottom of this page.
Q.1 Why does Jersey need a political party?
A. People achieve more when they work together as a team. Parties are able to put a joint manifesto to the electorate before an election so when you vote for a party member you know you are also voting for their manifesto pledges. It's less about personalities, and more about policies.
Q.2 Do you support our Finance industry?
A. Yes. The finance industry is a vital part of our economy and employs around 13,000 people. Our detractors like to portray us as anti-finance but that simply isn't true. We support an ethical and moral finance industry that complies with international standards and obligations.
Q.3 Why does democratic reform matter?
A. Everyone should have an equal say in our future. Our current system gives some people a much bigger say than others. This leads to policies that favour, for example, wealthy people at the expense of poor people. That then leads to voter apathy. If the system becomes fairer then that will result in policies that benefit all islanders.
Q.4 Will I have to pay more tax under a Reform Jersey government?
A. Only if you are a very high earner. If you currently pay less than 20% then your tax will go down. If you pay 20% then you might pay less. Only the very top earners who pay 20% will pay more.
Q.5 What are your links to the Labour Party?
A. We have no formal links with the Labour Party. Our party rules do not prevent members from also being members of parties in other countries.
