We begin States sittings again this month, after the summer recess. The summer recess gives time to look back and to think ahead about what can be achieved in the coming months and years. There was still work going on and people to meet and try to help. And of course we have first site of the much awaited government plan. Fourteen months after the elections. More on this later.

Friday just gone marked one year since I took office as Minister for Housing in the Government of Jersey. A few months later I became Minister for Children too. I guess it’s not exactly been a boring year, right?

I write this, and will publish it before the debate on free buses. It will be interesting to see how that will go. More on that later. I have been actively avoiding using my car to see if this is genuinely an option for islanders. But today I lapsed and drove into town. Partly to drop my daughter at work (yes I collapsed under the pressure to do this). I can honestly say that all this has done is strengthen my belief that we need to provide a serious alternative to the car for every islander.
